The adventure begins when teams learn that their airplane has crash-landed in a remote jungle. To survive, each group must build an escape helicopter using spare parts, a diagram, and limited access to a completed model. Learning Outcomes
How It Works This exciting simulation challenges participants to work together to complete a project under a deadline and with limited information. Presented with a predetermined set of toy parts, teams must create a plan for construction and then build a helicopter to exact specifications. After the models are completed (approximately 30 minutes later), team members take part in a discussion about team dynamics and offer insights gained from the activity. When scores are compared, participants learn that typically the team that took the most time to plan builds the helicopter in the least amount of time. Uses for Jungle Escape:

Produced - 2007 Just one person speaking up can inspire others to do the same. What do you do if someone you care about is the target of demeaning stereotypes? What if you are being demeaned or stereotyped? How often do you speak up on behalf of respect? This new program, based on the book by Leslie Aguilar, can be used for training on Diversity & Inclusion, Communication, Teamwork and Leadership. Why is OUCH! important? Staying silent in the face of demeaning comments, stereotypes or bias allows these attitudes and behaviors to thrive. This undermines our ability to create an inclusive workplace where all employees are welcomed, treated with respect and able to do their best work. Yet, most employees and leaders who want to speak up don't know how. So, we say nothing. What Does OUCH! do? In a unique and powerful way, viewers will experience the impact of stereotypical comments, explore why people don't speak up against stereotypes and other biased behaviors, and learn six techniques for speaking up without blame or guilt. OUCH! Learning Objectives:
Program includes: 12 minute DVD or VHS video, Speaking Up Activity 5 min., OUCH! That Stereotype Hurts with vignettes 13 min., CD-ROM with Leader's Guide, Powerpoint presentation, 1 OUCH! book and 10 OUCH! reminder cards

Produced - 2007 Defining diversity and understanding how to navigate through a diverse workforce are two very different things. It is one thing to understand what diversity is, but it's another to hire and manage the human complexities of a diverse workforce. In talking about diversity, we not only focus on the visible examples such as race, age, gender, and national origin, but also on not-so-visible examples such as personality style, style of interaction, lifestyle situations, education, work function, etc. It is the identification, acceptance and understanding of those differences and similarities that allow individuals to become aware of and fully use their talents and abilities to make unique contributions to workgroups and organizations. Whether your organization already started a diversity initiative or you're just beginning to look at the effect diversity has on your productivity, this program is designed to give your organization a chance to discuss some real issues affecting your workforce. By the end of this program, participants will be able to:

![]() Most of us are less skilled at handling conflict than we should be. Although studies show that a negotiating behavior is usually the best response to a conflict situation, negotiation is a difficult endeavor-one that requires considerable skill and thought. The normal negotiating behavior, as typically practiced in business and social contexts, does not generally produce high levels of satisfaction for either participant. The Dealing with Conflict Instrument (DWCI) will help change this by encouraging conflicting parties to shift to a more collaborative style in order to find and pursue shared interests, creating a win/win outcome. The Dealing with Conflict Instrument presents five conflict-handling styles. The five styles; accommodate, avoid, compromise, compete, and collaborate, encompass all the effective ways of dealing with conflict. By completing the Dealing with Conflict Instrument-Self, participants will learn about their own natural style tendencies, while the information gathered from the DWCI 360-Degree Feedback set will give them insight into how they are perceived by others when resolving conflicts. The combined results of these assessments indicate which styles of conflict resolution need the most improvement. Participants will explore the characteristics of each conflict-handling style which will help them develop greater style flexibility. In order to decide which style is best in a given situation, they will learn to dissect situations, using Conflict Situation Analysis. DWCI is a significant improvement over conventional conflict assessments. It shortens usage time, produces clearer and more user-friendly results, and includes helpful support material. DWCI is compatible with most existing training programs and is the easiest way to update assessment materials.

Conflict shifts the focus away from work and the basic goals of the team, department and organization, negatively impacting productivity and thus, patient care. Surveys show that managers now spend about 20 percent of their time on conflict resolution. And employees - now carrying the increased responsibilities of such programs as empowerment and quality management - are more vulnerable to conflict than ever. As medical personnel are asked to become more self-directed, contribute their opinions and communicate with a greater variety of people, they need ready access to their own conflict management skills. This program gives healthcare workers true insight and the lasting strategies for working through conflicts with less dependence on superiors. Based on the world-famous Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument, this program offers proven methods for recognizing and resolving conflict.
