This program identifies the seven communication breakdowns most likely to undermine organizational success, and gives tips on how to avoid them. Most employees never receive training in the development of their communication skills. Even more importantly, employees aren't provided with the knowledge and skills to help them avoid the frequent communication problems that arise. The good news is that the most common communication potholes in the road can be easily spotted and avoided. Illustrated in this program are Seven Common Communication Breakdowns:
Program inlucdes: A 18 minute DVD or VHS, Leader's Guide, PowerPoint Presentation on disc and 10 Employee Handbooks (additional copies sold in packs of 10 for $29.50)
![]() A long-time favorite of customers — Jungle Escape is a fun and highly effective hands-on game that's perfect for introducing and reinforcing basic team skills. The adventure begins when teams learn that their airplane has crash-landed in a remote jungle. To survive, each group must build an escape helicopter using spare parts, a diagram, and limited access to a completed model. Learning Outcomes
How It Works This exciting simulation challenges participants to work together to complete a project under a deadline and with limited information. Presented with a predetermined set of toy parts, teams must create a plan for construction and then build a helicopter to exact specifications. After the models are completed (approximately 30 minutes later), team members take part in a discussion about team dynamics and offer insights gained from the activity. When scores are compared, participants learn that typically the team that took the most time to plan builds the helicopter in the least amount of time. Uses for Jungle Escape:

Produced - 2007 This course is also available for online training, see details below. Based on the book, Leadership Made Simple, by Ed Oakley and Doug Krug the program introduces a proven process called The Framework for Leadership™, consisting of 5 questions, which, when asked in a specific order, enable leaders to engage their team in finding and implementing effective solutions. The Framework keeps groups from getting bogged down in the issue itself and the things that aren't working. It focuses them instead on what is working. Possibilities and solutions are generated from there. The net effect is that:
The video program, hosted by Ed Oakley, teaches viewers the 5 questions and shows how real-world organizations have applied the framework to common, yet critical, workplace problems. Within the workshop, participants experience the versatility of the Framework as they complete exercises where the 5 questions are modified to suit specific situations or challenges. A follow-up "mini-framework" is taught for when the group needs to check in on their progress. Whether your organization is working to institute a change initiative, resolve conflict, raise customer satisfaction, launch a new product or address a specific workplace challenge, your group leaders can use this program to achieve successful results. Program includes: A 27 minute DVD or VHS of the main program plus bonus interviews with the featured leaders adding additional insights and sharing industry-specific stories, Leader's Guide CD-ROM with PowerPoint Presentation and printable Participant Worksheets, 1 copy of the book Leadership Made Simple (with purchase only) and 10 Reminder Cards

Produced - 2007 Just one person speaking up can inspire others to do the same. What do you do if someone you care about is the target of demeaning stereotypes? What if you are being demeaned or stereotyped? How often do you speak up on behalf of respect? This new program, based on the book by Leslie Aguilar, can be used for training on Diversity & Inclusion, Communication, Teamwork and Leadership. Why is OUCH! important? Staying silent in the face of demeaning comments, stereotypes or bias allows these attitudes and behaviors to thrive. This undermines our ability to create an inclusive workplace where all employees are welcomed, treated with respect and able to do their best work. Yet, most employees and leaders who want to speak up don't know how. So, we say nothing. What Does OUCH! do? In a unique and powerful way, viewers will experience the impact of stereotypical comments, explore why people don't speak up against stereotypes and other biased behaviors, and learn six techniques for speaking up without blame or guilt. OUCH! Learning Objectives:
Program includes: 12 minute DVD or VHS video, Speaking Up Activity 5 min., OUCH! That Stereotype Hurts with vignettes 13 min., CD-ROM with Leader's Guide, Powerpoint presentation, 1 OUCH! book and 10 OUCH! reminder cards
![]() It’s no secret that we live in a world full of negativity. It seems like everywhere we turn, we’re confronted by difficult, negative people, with their shaking heads, thumbs down, brush-offs, closed doors, and put-downs. Negativity surrounds us — in our workplaces, in our communities and places of worship, in government, in social settings, in schools, and even within our families. Dealing with negative individuals is one of the most common problems that people complain about. But that’s only half the story ... sometimes it’s our own negativity that stands between us and success. Our pessimistic thinking, apathy, and over-cautiousness can be bigger barriers than everyone else’s negativity combined! Some days we wonder, “Why bother?” Trying to find happiness and success in an endless landscape of negativity is just too hard, it often seems. Sound familiar? If so, we have good news for you: Help has arrived! Understanding the sources of negativity — both our own and others’ — is essential for people to work together effectively. This video-based training program is designed to help workshop participants develop skills for their own journeys in the Land of NO — overcoming others’ resistance, roadblocks, and rebuffs. The video provides simple, how-to instruction that's both practical and entertaining. It will help participants deal with negativity faster, more effectively, and with a lot less discouragement and despair.

Produced - 2007 Defining diversity and understanding how to navigate through a diverse workforce are two very different things. It is one thing to understand what diversity is, but it's another to hire and manage the human complexities of a diverse workforce. In talking about diversity, we not only focus on the visible examples such as race, age, gender, and national origin, but also on not-so-visible examples such as personality style, style of interaction, lifestyle situations, education, work function, etc. It is the identification, acceptance and understanding of those differences and similarities that allow individuals to become aware of and fully use their talents and abilities to make unique contributions to workgroups and organizations. Whether your organization already started a diversity initiative or you're just beginning to look at the effect diversity has on your productivity, this program is designed to give your organization a chance to discuss some real issues affecting your workforce. By the end of this program, participants will be able to:
Program includes: 16 minute DVD, Facilitator's Guide and PowerPoint Presentation.
![]() New Release - 2006! With workers from four generations now active in the workforce, the potential for misunderstanding, frustration and conflict puts increasing pressure on productivity. To turn that challenge into a competitive advantage, this program applies the M.E.E.T. approach to the complexities of effectively working in and managing a multigenerational workforce. Employees and managers gain insights, strategies and skills that help minimize generational conflict and strengthen collaboration. Learning Point Highlights:
![]() Most of us are less skilled at handling conflict than we should be. Although studies show that a negotiating behavior is usually the best response to a conflict situation, negotiation is a difficult endeavor-one that requires considerable skill and thought. The normal negotiating behavior, as typically practiced in business and social contexts, does not generally produce high levels of satisfaction for either participant. The Dealing with Conflict Instrument (DWCI) will help change this by encouraging conflicting parties to shift to a more collaborative style in order to find and pursue shared interests, creating a win/win outcome. The Dealing with Conflict Instrument presents five conflict-handling styles. The five styles; accommodate, avoid, compromise, compete, and collaborate, encompass all the effective ways of dealing with conflict. By completing the Dealing with Conflict Instrument-Self, participants will learn about their own natural style tendencies, while the information gathered from the DWCI 360-Degree Feedback set will give them insight into how they are perceived by others when resolving conflicts. The combined results of these assessments indicate which styles of conflict resolution need the most improvement. Participants will explore the characteristics of each conflict-handling style which will help them develop greater style flexibility. In order to decide which style is best in a given situation, they will learn to dissect situations, using Conflict Situation Analysis. DWCI is a significant improvement over conventional conflict assessments. It shortens usage time, produces clearer and more user-friendly results, and includes helpful support material. DWCI is compatible with most existing training programs and is the easiest way to update assessment materials.
