Broadbanding For Compensation Success – Print version

Before plunging into a new system, you need to make sure that you know what broadbanding can and will achieve, and how it will support the organization’s overall mission.

If you’re considering a broadbanding program, it’s a good time to review and analyze your entire compensation system, keeping the following three steps in mind:

1. Senior management and individual line management determine the best approach and timing for implementing broadbands.

2. Specific work teams develop job families and competencies. Teams may be structured vertically or horizontality across functions.

3. Supervisors are trained to administer the program and to communicate with employees about broadbanding and its role in managing careers within your organization.

Properly planned and implemented (in the right environment and for the right reasons), broadbanding can save time and money while developing multitalented employees and a more flexible reward system.

Workers’ Compensation Claims Review Audio Conference on CD

Scheduling reviews of open claims with your insurance carrier can help you close claims faster and resolve issues before they get out of control. A thorough, prompt review can also help you respond in a timely manner-which is particularly important in states that limit your rights to investigate or question a claim as a work-related event.

Workers’ compensation experts will explain the best ways to stay in control and on top of your open claims, and to move those claims toward a faster and cheaper resolution.

You and your colleagues will learn:

  • Critical elements of effectively managing your open workers’ compensation claims
  • How and why to partner with your carrier’s claims manager
  • Successful tips for claims triage, based on severity
  • Why one person in your organization must be designated as your workers’ comp administrator-and how to select a good candidate
  • Why ignoring open claims and hoping they will work themselves out can cost you thousands of dollars in increased litigation claims
  • Tips on coordinating and communicating your open claims concerns with your carrier
  • This audio conference was delivered on Thursday, April 10, 2008

Complying with benefits laws has never been easy, and COBRA is one of the most complex regulations that organizations have ever had to implement. Although there are no laws that mandate that employers must provide healthcare coverage for their employees, there are an increasing number of laws, including HIPAA, that regulate health insurance if it is offered as an employee benefit.

New Employment Laws in U.S. Audio Conference on CD

As a new year dawns, many HR professionals and employers are still struggling to digest the latest wave of new federal employment-related laws and regulations. These changes affect everything from how you keep personnel records and offer healthcare benefits to how you pay your workers and maintain your retirement plans.

How soon will federal officials increase the current national minimum wage? Will you run afoul of new e-mail storage rules that could expose you to significant legal risks if you dont know the details and follow them to the letter? Do you understand how the new EEO-1 form will affect the way you classify your employees? Have you made plans yet for the impact of the new Health Savings Account(HSA) changes? Will the Pension Protection Act change your retirement benefits in ways that could upset your employees?

Our experts explain, in plain English, the new federal laws and regulations governing employment issues in 2007. Youll learn how to gauge the impact of these new rules on your workplace, and how to take immediate steps to ensure that youre complying as required. And, youll have the chance to ask our expert speakers questions (by email or over the phone), so that you can find out how to protect your organization against the legal risks and liabilities specific to you.

YOU AND YOUR COLLEAGUES WILL LEARN:

    • How to prepare for expected changes in federal minimum wage levels
    • The impact of new rules governing HSAs on your employee benefit programs
    • The steps you should take in 2007 to comply with new regulations based on amendments to the Immigration Reform Act
